Day 13.10

We come to the Moodini Bluff. Here the escarpment juts out to meet the road. We’ve been driving past it, with several picture stops along the way, at an average of 70 to 80 kms, for over 4 hours now. It is a major geological marvel.

Past another “Royal Flying Doctor Service” airstrip the road starts to climb up the escarpment, through the Madura Pass. On the left in a dip, surrounded by trees, is a Shell sign. Off the road in the valley, hidden at the base of the escarpment, stands a lone petrol-station come caravan-park. It’s noon and the air is filled with the songs of birds.
