Walkabout - an account of a drive/trip from Melbourne to Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, The red centre and back to Melbourne. Without a pre-determined timetable or any particular destination, having run a business in Melbourne for the last 20 years, my partner and I have decided to find out what lies beyond the black stump in the Australian outback. Talkabout - We'll be talking to the locals along the way and finding out a little about why they happen to be at the place they are.

Day 17.12

We continue onwards to Esperance. We will get there eventually. We have already seen the sign to welcome us to the Mallee country, as fields of green and yellow begin to surround us on both sides. But first, a pyramid like mountain in the distance towards the west seeks attention. Another unsealed road, between grain fields and sheep paddocks leads us closer. And just before we reach its end Peak Charles and its surrounding hills become visible enough for a stunning shot.
